Middle Tennessee Resources
This link includes the list of free legal clinics available to tornado survivors. The Legal Aid Society of Middle Tennessee and the Cumberlands has created a resources center for those impacted by the 2020 Tornadoes. Click on the link above to visit their site. There you will find information about common legal problems that arise after natural disasters as well as information about renter's rights, employee's rights, insurance, and available assistance.
If you live in the Nashville area and were impacted by the recent tornados, click on the link above to visit Nashville's storm response page. There you will find emergency numbers and community resources. The site also includes information about road closures, school closures, power outages, emergency shelters, and food and water distribution.
Fox 17 News Channel compiled a list of helpful resources for every county impacted by the 2020 Tornados. By clicking the link above, you will be taken to their site. The site includes contact information for shelters, home clean up, clothing, food, and more.

If you have been affected by a disaster, you can find general information helpful to disaster relief on housing, insurance claims, insurance, employment, and more. You can also find organizations in your state that may be able to provide free legal help to you if you qualify.

West Tennessee Resources:
WTLS is a non-profit organization that provides assistance in civil cases to individuals, families, and communities in Benton, Carroll, Chester, Crockett, Dyer, Decatur, Gibson, Hardeman, Hardin, Haywood, Henry, Henderson, Lake, McNairy, Madison, Obion, and Weakley counties.
If you are in Tennessee, the website, TN Free Legal Answers, allows you to ask a lawyer for help with a legal issue at no cost. It is fast and easy, and all you need is a computer. This is a FREE service for people who cannot afford a lawyer.
How it works:
- You will answer a few questions to see if you qualify for their service. If you qualify, you will have the option to create an account.
- If you qualify, you will then ask their volunteer attorneys your non-criminal legal question.
- Once your question receives a response, you will get an email. You will need to sign into the website to read your response and ask any additional questions.
This resource contains standard court forms that are approved for all counties of Tennessee. If you need help filing one of these forms, you can ask a lawyer in your area.
